About the Series

Ranging from kitchen scenes to famously renowned basilicas, these paintings capture and preserve memory, experience, and a sense of community. 

As an artist exploring a range of interests, I have found that the most natural step forward is to create work based on what I find to be precious. It turns out, that there’s a little bit of precious in the every day. And in the skill bypassing age of AI, I am encouraged by a reality that suggests art - authentic art - is deeply human. 

Art first requires a life lived. AI has never thought to capture a life it has never lived. It has never loved or lost. It’s never hugged a loved or shared a meaningful moment with a stranger. It’s never been to California with a sister or Spain with dear friends. It’s never sat around a table with community that it built in a city it called home. It’s never demonstrated a labor of love and it has certainly never sacrificed the time and care it takes to create something out of nothing with its bare hands. 

So as both a creative discipline and a relentless belief in arts ability to comfort, bless, relate to, and inspire people, I have created A Life Lived - a series paintings inspired by everyday moments I’ve encountered and all available to you today.

I’m fascinated by the profound way in which a very specific experience (in this case camera roll source photos) can still be deeply relatable or familiar to a stranger. My hope is that these scenes, although personal to me, feel warm, inviting, beautiful, and homey to anyone who finds themselves here, connecting to the work.
